Tommy Corey is a portrait photographer currently living the van life.
Hi! My name is Tommy. I'm a portrait/editorial photographer and currently reside in the US living in my van with my puppy Tyler. I grew up in Redding, California and it was there that I picked up my first camera when I was just 12 years old. My Dad gave me his Olympus that he shot on as a kid, so I learned solely by shooting on film. As a kid, I loved photographing other people. I would take photos of my friends, family and practically anyone I knew.
Photography has been my passion since that moment I picked up my camera and knew I could create whatever I wanted. When I was 22 I created a humanitarian photo project called The Self-Worth Project, where I documented people after writing their deepest insecurity on their bodies. Photography was also the driving force for me to walk from 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada on the Pacific Crest Trail, and create a photo project I called Hiker Trash Vogue.
I love portraits because it helps me get to know people in a way that most can’t tap into. There is beauty in every single person I meet and I think photography has been a way for not only others to see it, but for the subject themselves to feel confident and beautiful. That’s always been my mission.
